Annunciation Middle School has a seven period day.  Students attend six core classes which meet either four or five days a week.  These classes are: Literature (4 days), Math (5), Religion (4), Science (5), Social Studies (5) Writers' Workshop(4).  Additional classes are: Art (1 day), Creative Arts (1), Computer (1), Spanish (3), Physical Education (2), Library (1).  A separate middle school curriculum guide details specific class objectives.  Annunciation Middle School offers small class sizes, as well as high expectations and accountability.

The middle school curriculum should:

  • Employ an approach which accepts each child at his/her developmental level.
  • Emphasize independent learning and thinking skills
  • Be child centered
  • Allow students to connect material and skills learned in one class to those presented in another.
  • Emphasize the need for students to be life long learners.
  • Teach children how to learn, not simply what to learn.
  • Emphasize cooperative learning experiences.
