as high expectations and accountability. The middle school curriculum should:
- Employ an approach which accepts each child at his/her developmental
level.
- Emphasize independent learning and thinking skills
- Be child centered
- Allow students to connect material and skills learned in one class to
those presented in another.
- Emphasize the need for students to be life long learners.
- Teach children how to learn, not simply what to learn.
- Emphasize cooperative learning experiences.
