The Enrichment Program at Annunciation School addresses the needs of all learners.
Resources are offered to all teachers for curriculum enrichment in the regular classroom and to
parent volunteers who teach in the enrichment programs.
In the regular classroom teachers enrich the curriculum by differentiation, instructional
grouping, cluster grouping within grade levels, continuous progress curriculum, collaborative
teaching, team teaching, and curriculum compacting. Individualized provisions for students
include individual learning plans, acceleration, and independent study research.
Omniplus and SOAR
Students in grades 3-6 are recommended by their teachers to participate in Omniplus and/or
SOAR. In both programs, students are pulled out of their regular classrooms to
participate in classes taught by parent volunteers. The needs of students in other
grades are met through individualized plans.
Omniplus (previously the Omnibus program) is offered to grades three through five.
These sessions run for approximately six weeks with eight to sixteen students from each grade
participating. Parent volunteers follow curriculum provided by the school or are free to
develop their own classes. Current topics include archeology, law, anatomy, and
dissection. Classes are offered to students interested in a particular topic, who
teachers feel can benefit from the extra challenge. The frequency these classes are
offered and the number of students able to participate depends upon the number of parent
volunteers.
SOAR is a program for students recommended as having a high math aptitude.
Participants are selected on the basis of test scores and teacher recommendation. It is
offered in grades three through six. Classes focus on solving challenging math problems.
These groups of six to eight students meet weekly throughout the year.
