Annunciation School was the creation of Father Francis Lang and the founding members of the parish. The dedication and commitment of the Dominican nuns of Sinsinawa, Wisconsin provided teachers and staff at the school from 1923 to 1992. In that 71 year period, more than 320 Dominican sisters served at Annunciation.

The school opened September 10, 1923 with an enrollment of 72 pupils. In 1960 the west wing was added to the school (it now houses the middle school) and enrollment boomed with more than 1100 students. The students and alumni of Annunciation School are part of a large family. Three generations of students from some families have attended the school. Our history is long and rich with over 5,000 graduates in all walks of life, in all parts of the world. Today student enrollment is 442 in kindergarten through grade 8, making Annunciation one of the largest Catholic schools in Minneapolis.
