Zero Waste Event

Caring for God’s Creation & the Poor:  “Creation is not some possession that we can lord over for our own pleasure; nor, even less, is it the property of only some people, the few: creation is a gift, it is the marvelous gift that God has given us, so that we will take care of it and harness it for the benefit of all, always with great respect and gratitude” ~Pope Francis

Stewardship Tip:  SeptemberFest ZEE WEE.  Next weekend is our annual Church festival and ZERO WASTE EVENT (or Zee Wee!)  Once again, the goal is to either compost or recycle everything possible, leaving less than 5% going to our city’s incinerator.  Please do your share to make this a reality!  What do you need to do?  When you walk up to the waste containers, PLEASE PAUSE AND SORT as you do at home:  1) COMPOSTABLE?  ALL of the beverage cups, forks, spoons, knives and plates are compostable foodware.  (They look plastic but are made of corn.)  All food waste and soiled paper products are also compostable.  2) RECYCLABLE?  Glass & plastic bottles, aluminum, and other plastic containers and paper are recyclable. (Think of your Single-Stream Recycling at home) and 3) TRASH?  Candy wrappers, chip bags and plastic bags are for the trash.  Enjoy SeptemberFest, but please be thoughtful at the waste containers!  Peace & Justice Committee
