Youth Minister Update

Mar 29th, 2019

Dear Annunciation Families,

I want to share with you some exciting news regarding the search for our new youth minister. We posted the position in February and received a lot of applications from qualified individuals. The list was narrowed and the top candidates were interviewed by a committee made up of Fr. Park, staff, and parents. Now that this process has come to a close, we are happy to announce that we have found our new youth minister - Bernadette (Bernie) Gauthé (pronounced Go-tay).

Bernie Gauthé

Bernie was born and raised in south Louisiana and she and her husband Chip have five boys, and a toddler girl. Her four oldest are Annunciation students. She has over 10 years of ministry experience, 6 of which were spent as a parish Youth Minister. Additionally, she has spent time serving the greater Church as a volunteer leading college foreign mission trips, retreats, small groups, and a variety of women’s ministries. She also holds a bachelors degree in Psychology from McNeese State University.

Bernie and her family moved to Minnesota for Chip’s job a year and a half ago and she thinks Minnesota is the next best thing to the south! She has a love for faith and family, serving others, cooking and baking, sharing what she cooks and bakes with friends, and running (but not during a Minnesota winter). She is excited about the opportunity to share her passion for Christ and the Church with the youth of this parish because she believes young people truly have a desire and potential to do great things!

Bernie will be starting this summer and will be a chaperone on the AYM Mission Trip in July. Jimmy Dunn, our long time youth minister will still lead the Mission Trip this summer, but will also begin his new position at Annunciation as the Director of Outreach and Community Life.

We are extremely grateful for the way that Jimmy has poured out his life for the youth of this parish for so many years - make sure to give Jimmy a big THANK YOU when you see him (we’ll have a party for him later in the summer).

We are so excited for Bernie to continue the tradition of AYM and serve the youth of our parish. Please warmly welcome Bernie as our new youth minister!

God bless!
Father Brian Park
