Welcome New Teachers to Annunciation!

Jun 20th, 2017

We are excited to announce the hiring of two new teachers to the Annunciation School staff! Please welcome grade 2 teacher Ashley Hannigan and Creative Arts teacher Lorissa Letwin.

Grade 2: Ashley Hannigan
My name is Ashley Hannigan, and I am thrilled to be joining the Annunciation family as a second grade teacher next fall. The past six years, I taught second grade in Elk River at St. Andrew Catholic School; three years prior, I was a first grade teacher at the Academy of Saints Peter and Paul in Loretto. My grandmother, an alumni and parishioner, has also spoken so highly of Annunciation and fueled my enthusiasm to become a member of this vibrant community.

As a teacher, I always hope to motivate and facilitate opportunities for students to feel empowered about their own learning. I am excited and honored to be a part of their journey.

Although I do not officially start until fall, I am hoping to meet many of you this summer. Please don’t hesitate to say hello!

Creative Arts: Lorissa Letwin
Greetings Annunciation community! My name is Lorissa Letwin, and I will be joining the Annunciation Staff as the Creative Arts Teacher. I am beyond excited to be a part of this community sharing my passion, knowledge, and musical talents with future students, parents, and staff.

I was born in Thunder Bay, Ontario, and moved to Greenville, Wisconsin with my family when I was young. I began piano at the age of 5 and this instrument has been my expressional outlet throughout my life. I have had the opportunity to experience music through many opportunities such as studio dance and high school dance team, formal individual and group piano training, show choir, participating in musicals, accompanying musicians, and currently I am involved in a Minneapolis adult choir. I received my Bachelor’s Degree in Vocal Music Education K-12 from the University of Minnesota Duluth in 2013, and received my Master’s in Music Therapy Degree from the University of Minnesota in 2016. In addition to my passion for music, I also had formal training in figure skating and voice, and played competitive soccer, hockey, and baseball. I continue to teach lessons in piano, voice, guitar, and ukulele, participate in soccer and hockey leagues, and teach music at Autism Camps throughout the summer months. Some of my hobbies outside of work include baking, cooking, spending time at the cabin where I enjoy waterskiing, volunteering in the community, and writing music.

I am most looking forward to learning about the students such as their goals, interests, passions, strengths, weaknesses, and incorporating that into my classrooms lessons. I have had the opportunity to witness the wonderful Christmas program and Improv shows at Annunciation, and I am looking forward to continuing this legacy. I am also looking forward to collaborations with musicians, teachers, students, and parents. My goal is to create a motivating and safe learning environment that provides opportunity for communication, guidance, and respect.

I’m so excited to get started and meet all the students, staff, and parents within the Annunciation Community!
