Voting Catholic

Oct 24th, 2014

“Politics, according to the Social Doctrine of the Church, is one of the highest forms of charity, because it serves the common good.”

Pope Francis, Daily Homily of September 16, 2013

With elections right around the corner, it is good to be reminded that voting is both a right and a privilege for which our Faith calls us to prepare responsibly with a well formed conscience. The Minnesota Catholic Conference/MCC has published Spotlight on Voting as a guide to help us with this fall’s elections. Copies can be found in the narthex and on the Communion rail, as well as on the resource tab of the MCC website. Spotlight on Voting provides the Church’s position on these issues: Religious Liberty, Immigration, Human Life, Labor & Economy, Health Care, Restorative Justice, Children & Families, Education, and Agriculture & the Environment. Also recommended: Google Voting Catholic BustedHalo for another excellent Catholic voting resource guide.
