Dear Annunciation Parents,
The community of Annunciation set forth a vision to “Position Annunciation as a Catholic leader, recognized for educating the whole child”. Over the last few years, the staff have collaborated as teams to take risks, learn new things, expand our experiences, grow and develop our teaching skills – all to help our children become the people God has called them to be – reaching their full “Potentiality”.
This week, we took a major step in our journey of being a Catholic leader in education with our International Baccalaureate authorization visit. The team spent two days here at school to experience our school and look for evidence of the standards of best practices set to create a strong, student-centered inquiring environment – ultimately to bring out the best in our students! They visited classrooms, walked the halls, met with teachers and staff, talked to students, met with parent groups, student groups, and staff teams.
The visit went well and was such a great opportunity to share and brag a bit about all we have accomplished over the last few years! At the end of the two days, the team shared some of their general findings. While we have some things to work on and the full report will be sent to us in the next few months, the overall feeling was positive. Here are a few things they said about our school:
- The staff is knowledgeable and dedicated.
- Parents and students love their school.
- The students are amazing, well spoken, and curious.
- Teachers are collaborative and have created a great learning community.
- There is a lovely “buzz” in the school.
- Growth over the years is amazing!
- The school has developed a lovely climate and culture.
- “Keep doing what you are doing”.
We won’t get the final result until the summer, but we are prayerful and hopeful that the efforts over the years will result in achieving authorization as an IB World School.
Our journey continues with the addition of the 1:1 program in middle school next fall, reviewing areas of our curriculum as a team, looking for ways to support the social/emotional growth in our students, and living our faith through prayer, action, and service.
You can be so proud of your school – the dedication of the whole community to be the very best Catholic school for your child. There is much to be grateful for and excited about as we look ahead. Thank you for your continued support and prayers. We are truly blessed!
