Summer 2014 Reading Raffle

May 28th, 2014

We want Annunciation students reading this summer!

The challenge this summer is simple: Each time you finish a book, send me a postcard about your reading. Each postcard will be an entry in our Summer Reading Raffle.  The drawing for the raffle will be on the 1st day of school.  The more you read – the more chances you have to WIN!

Prizes

$75.00 gift card to Target

$25 gift card to Barnes & Noble

1-5 ride pack for SeptemberFest

10 – Single ride tickets for SeptemberFest

5 - $5 gift cards for Freestyle Yogurt

How to Participate

  1. Choose a book (you have NOT read before) to read, it should be at or above your level.
  2. Read the book!
  3. When you are finished reading, write to Mrs. Cassidy and tell her all about the book on the postcard. (Kindergarteners and 1st graders may have parents help them with the writing.)
     Include the following:
    The name of the book
One or two sentences about the book (Paragraph Summary for 3rd -8th graders!)
Your name (first and last) and grade for 2014/2015
If you have room, tell us if you liked the book or draw a picture (a little one!)
  4. Drop the postcard outside the School Office, Church Office or address and mail the postcard to:
Principal Cassidy, Annunciation School, 525 W. 54th Street, Minneapolis, MN  55419

Parents:  There is no certification form for you to fill out.  I only ask that you offer encouragement for reading and help your child stamp/mail the postcards.

Research Statements to Support Summer Reading
The number of books read during the summer is consistently related to academic growth.
Students who read 6 or more books during the summer vacation gained more in achievement than students who did not meet that goal.
