Spring is Here!

Apr 11th, 2014

The snow is finally melting and the sunshine is warm! Spring is here and that means our final stretch of the school year is ahead. Next week marks the mid-point for our last trimester of the 2013-2014 school year. With only 8 weeks or so to go, we have lots to do in a short amount of time! Here are some of the notable events coming:

Mary Ann Pearson’s retirement – As you know from her announcement this winter, Mary Ann Pearson will be retiring as School President from Annunciation School this June. A celebration for Mary Ann will take place after masses on Sunday. June 8. Please mark your calendars and plan to join us in thanking Mary Ann for her many years of service and commitment to Annunciation Community.

With Mary Ann’s retirement, a restructuring of the administration has been underway. The president position will be eliminated. The responsibilities of the position will be shared among other staff. A Development Director position is being created to oversee the alumni relations work and the fundraising for the church and school. This position will be within the church staffing. Father Jim is in the final stages of hiring for this position. The school administration is being reviewed to see what structure will provide the best leadership for the school moving forward. We will keep you updated as we finalize this process.

Spring Fling event – April 23 – 6-8 pm at Annunciation School Auditorium. Preschool and Kindergarten families are invited to attend. The event is free and will have food and games, facepainting and more. Hosted by Annunciation School and our LADC preschool – look for fliers for this family event for preschool and kindergarten families. If you know of anyone looking for preschool or kindergarten for next year, please invite them to attend.

First Communion – will be held on Saturday, May 3 at 11:00 am. Please join us as our second grade children receive this wonderful sacrament.

Teacher Appreciation Week – will take place April 28-May 2. We thank our teachers and staff for all they do to support our students, families and school community.

Improv 2014 – will be May 1-2. We look forward to seeing our 7th share their talents and perform in the Improv Shows for this year. Check the website for more information as this wonderful event draws closer.

Catholic Identity Site Visit – On May 8, representatives from the Archdiocese will spend a day as part of our renewal process for our Catholic Identity. Similar to the accreditation, we have prepared a document and will have a site visit to show how we meet the standards of a Catholic School.

Silent and Live Auction – NYC – will take place on Saturday, May 17. Plan to be a part of this fun and important event to support Annunciation School!

8th Grade Graduation – June 3 at 7:00 pm – join us in celebrating the success of Annunciation School’s Class of 2014!

As always, feel free to join us at school or be a part of the many field trips and celebrations the end of the year brings. We are blessed and look forward to hard work in the months to fulfill our mission.

Thanks for all you do for our school!
