National Math Challenge Contest Results

In early April, 30 Annunciation students in grades 2-5 participated in the National Math Challenge Contest. 

This Math Contest is a national contest for elementary students. The goal of the competition is to encourage students' interest in math, to develop their problem-solving skills, and to inspire them to excel in math. 

More than 33,000 students representing 772 schools across the country took part in this spring’s contest.  

The following students are our Annunciation School Team Leaders

  • 2nd Grade: Lynn A.
  • 3rd Grade: Burke D.
  • 4th Grade: Ben H., James H .and Vivian K. (tie) 
  • 5th Grade: Maggie M.

The following students won the National Honor Roll title. This title is awarded to the top 10% (nationally) of participating mathletes. In addition, Burke and Lynn tied for the school high score.

  • Burke D.

24 of the 30, or 80% of the students who participated received National Honorable Mention (or higher). This title is awarded to students who score in the top 50% of all participating mathletes. 

Congratulations to all the participants! The contest results demonstrate our students’ great problem-solving skills and math talents. They also show that our students model risk-taking, critical thinking skills and open-mindedness.
