Third Trimester: Happy Spring!

Happy Spring!  It was wonderful to see so many of you at conferences.  Working together to ensure our students’ success strengthens this caring community.  Thank you for your support.

Third trimester is in full swing.  A quick note on report cards – some of you have asked how we go about filling in the behaviors section of the report cards.  The teachers gather multiple times and discuss all students; they then come to a consensus.  Because middle schoolers see so many different teachers, we want to be sure all teachers have input and all experiences are considered.   

On Thursday, the seventh graders participated in a Courage Retreat, hosted by Youth Frontiers.  We have hosted Courage Retreats for several years, with impressive outcomes.  It was an exciting and profound day; ask your seventh graders about it!  If you are interested, you can visit their site,

We honor courageous students with our middle school Courage Award.  Mrs. Cassidy presented Courage Awards  to Katie L, Rose L, Sophia H, and Charlie E.  Thank you for encouraging each other and building each other up!

A few other notes:

We are still looking for volunteers for the 7-1 trip to Feed My Starving Children on April 15 and the 8-2 trip on Wednesday, March 26.  We will leave school at 9:00 and return around 12:00.   You may certainly meet us there if that's easier (arrive just before 9:30).  If you are interested, please contact Christine Kelash (!

Eighth grade parents - If you haven’t already done so, please email a digital baby photo to Mrs. McBurney ( for the yearbook.

What a joy it’s been to see eighth grade profiles each week this trimester in the Weekender!  If your child has not yet submitted a form, there’s still time!  Turn them into homebases.

Sixth grade parents -   We are still looking for a sixth grade parent to help coordinate the Improv Gala on May 1.  Sixth grade parents staff this event; all the food and supplies will be provided.  The coordinator would be the point person for recruiting and scheduling volunteers.  If you are interested, please contact Christine Kelash ( for further details.\
