Middle School News April 11

Apr 11th, 2014

Dear Middle School Parents,

I have exciting news regarding the Middle School web site!  Over the past few weeks, we have been transferring all the information from the Middle School Google site over to the greater Annunciation School web site.  While there still may be a knot or two to work out, the site looks fantastic and is ready to go.  You can find it here.  Or, from the main page, click on “Middle School” (under “Academics” at the top) and scroll to the bottom of that page to find the “Middle School Parents” link.  Take a minute to look around at those beautiful 8th grade bios, schedules, policies, Google Calendars, communications, and a brand new “MS FAQ” section.

In other news, students have begun taking their SAT 10 and OLSAT standardized tests.  This is an excellent opportunity for us to reflect on teaching and learning.  As a new feature this year, we are providing gum for students who wish to chew it during testing.  One of our middle school students did a science fair research project on the effects of bubble gum chewing and testing. The results and his researched showed a positive correlation between the chewing and testing. He met with Mrs. Cassidy and requested, based on his research, that we reconsider the ban on bubble gum in school. We decided to try it during testing and will see how it goes.  What a great way to apply a learned concept to everyday application!

Kindest Regards,
