March is Minnesota FoodShare Month

Mar 10th, 2018

March is Minnesota FoodShare Month. Minnesota FoodShare is fighting hunger by mobilizing communities to raise food and funds for 300 partnering food shelves. In 2017, over $8 million and 4.7 million pounds of food were raised by Minnesota food shelves and Minnesota FoodShare. One in ten Minnesotans experience food insecurity. 13.8% of children in Minnesota are food insecure. About 10% of Minnesotans were in poverty in 2016.

Respond to food insecurity in our community by filling a grocery bag with much needed food and household items for our local food shelf. Often needed items: Proteins - canned meats, fish, and beans, nuts & nut butters; fresh/dried herbs and spices; white, wild, and brown rice; gluten- free flours and flour blends; personal care items- shampoo, soap, deodorant, toothpaste, feminine hygiene, diapers, toilet paper; household supplies- laundry and dish detergent, kitchen and bathroom cleaners, paper towels.

Please remember to bring a bag of food and personal or household items when you come to Mass during March. Let's feed the hungry and support our local food shelf. (
