CSCOE Summit & Upcoming Conferences

Oct 27th, 2017

Dear Parents,

Next week, we will be at the mid-point of the first semester of the school year. A lot has happened over this first semester. We are proud of the curiosity, inquiry, efforts and achievements of our students and staff! At this mid-point, it is a great time to connect, informing you of the accomplishments of your children to date. By meeting at mid-semester, we can provide a good snapshot of your child’s progress and provide some guidance as we enter the last half of the semester, prior to the final report cards.

We are excited to meet with you next week at conferences. This time to share and communicate directly with parents is one of the most important things we do. If you have not signed up for your conference, please do. We look forward to seeing you next Wednesday and Thursday.

CSCOE Summit:  Inspired to seek excellence.

Last Wednesday, at the Minneapolis Convention Center, our staff joined other Catholic school educators from the 79 Catholic elementary/middle schools in our Archdiocese to spend a day of prayer, reflection and learning together. Over 2,000 people attended the first CSCOE Summit. CSCOE, the Catholic Schools Center of Excellence, organized an amazing day, starting with prayer and mass with Archbishop Hebda.

After mass, we attended sessions and spent time with other educators who do similar work at their schools. We ended the day with keynote speaker, Jonathan Doyle, who helped us reflect on the importance of the vocation we have chosen. He reminded us that we cannot do “supernatural tasks with natural resources”. It is vital we remember and invite God to help us in our efforts.  As we focus on becoming better teachers and learn more about reading, math, science, social studies, religion and more, we can’t forget the power of prayer and God’s hand in our work.

CSCOE is providing an opportunity to continue this reflection and prayer with Jonathan Doyle through a yearlong subscription to his school reflections for staff. We are grateful to CSCOE for helping us stay true to our vocation and help “refill our tanks” to be the best we can be for our students.

Thank you again for your prayers, support and partnership with us as we carry out the mission of Annunciation and seek the “potentiality” in each child. See you next week!
