  • 12/02/2016 We Strive to be Open-Minded

    International Baccalaureate, Weekender

At Annuciation, we strive to be open-minded.

People who are open-minded understand and appreciate their own cultures and personal histories, and are open to the perspectives, values and traditions of other individuals and communities. Being open-minded means being comfortable with differences - respecting other people’s points of views and ways of doing things.  An OPEN-MINDED student knows that all people are different. They listen to the points of view of others and consider many possibilities before making decisions. It is okay to have different perspectives but we must understand that other people, with their differences, can also be right.

Principal Cassidy's News & Notes, Weekender

As we approach the end of the first semester of the school year and the excitement of Christmas is upon us, I would like to take this opportunity to make you aware of our ‘next big move’ as a staff.

Annunciation is a vibrant, evolving community and that extends to all parts of our great school.  As we carry out our school’s vision, we are guided by our mission and our strategic plan. At the heart of our work is the desire to fulfill the Strategic Plan’s first objective to “Position Annunciation as a Catholic leader, educating the whole child.” Central to this goal is our continued implementation of the IB framework. The IB is guiding our development of “how” we teach, while “what” we teach is based on standards. While much of what we teach is the same, the way that we go about teaching it needs to change and match the way our students learn today. This process involves evaluating and reflection on all aspects of our school. IB becomes the framework for that evolution.

Principal Cassidy's News & Notes, Weekender

The past two days, we have had our parent-teacher conferences. We are truly blessed to have such committed and supportive parents who participate and join us over these two days. Conferences require time and effort from both the school and the family. But we believe that the time and effort is worth it!

Education today is multi-faceted – it is active, engaging, changing, individualized - and can be challenging! To ensure we help each child reach their potential and utilizing their unique gifts, it is vital that we have strong partnerships with our families. We know when parents and teachers, along with the whole school community, work in unison to offer support and a consistent message, children are most successful.

It was wonderful to see our parents and teachers connecting, feel the energy throughout the school, hear the laughter, see the smiles, and receive the great feedback from parents that their children are loving school and doing so well!

Thank you, parents, for choosing Annunciation as your partner - for your support and belief in our teachers and staff - for working with us to help each child soar! Annunciation is truly an amazing place.

  • 06/03/2016 Third Annual School Supply Drive!

    Weekender

Hello Annunciation families!  I am proud to announce that I will be continuing the annual school supply drive at Annunciation.  As you clean out your desks and lockers this year, look for very gently used or new supplies to donate.  Each classroom will be given a grocery bag in which to collect supplies.  We will be donating our supplies to the Twin Cities Kids In Need Foundation, a local organization that collects supplies and donates them to local families and schools who cannot afford school supplies for their children.  It really means a lot to these families; they were thrilled to receive Annunciation’s donation last year.

    Thank you for helping me!
