10/01/2015 How Can We Help the Syrian Refugees?
Church News

“May every parish, every religious community, every monastery, every sanctuary in Europe host a family.” ~Pope Francis
Stewardship Tip
What can we do to help the Syrian Refugees? Many of us have watched in horror at the suffering from the refugee crisis in Syria, while reflecting on our own immigration crisis here in the US. Pope Francis has urged generous support for refugees from Syria and elsewhere. He has called on elected officials to be peacemakers, and work for a solution to the violent conflict in Syria. Catholic Relief Services (CRS) is increasing its response to the needs of Syrian refugees and other migrants arriving daily in Europe, and working with the local Church to provide food, water, access to sanitation, medical and legal services.

Those who will have to suffer the consequences of what we are trying to hide will not forget this failure of conscience and responsibility. 07/08/2015 A Parish Prayer in a Time of Transition
Church News
Learn MoreO God of the unknown, you who continually beckon us into uncharted areas, praise and thanksgiving be to You!
As we proceed through this transition period, we confidently rely upon your great blessings.
May we use this time well, in order to be present to You, through Sacred Scripture, through our sensitivity to one another, and through our silence and our sharing, in your Holy Presence.
May this be a special time of grace during our spiritual journey, both as individuals and as a parish community.
We ask this, Creator and Lord of our lives, through Jesus Christ, your Son and our brother and through the Spirit, who teaches us how to pray and live together in peace, forever and ever.
Amen.

07/07/2015 Sr. Sue Update
Church News
Learn MoreHow Grateful I am for your care and support!
Probably by now you heard about my bicycle accident on June 23rd that brought about a sudden change of my summer plans. I want to express to you my very deep appreciation for your visits, cards, calls, emails and your prayer. You may also be wondering how this accident happened as did I. I have no recall of the circumstances of the accident itself. By the 5th day following this event, it's cause dawned on me. Among the tasks in readying my bike for riding following car trunk transport, I needed to place the wheels in position and lock them in place. I took care of the front wheel just fine but looking back I realize that I forgot to return my attention to the back wheel to lock it after placement - a small oversight with big consequences by way of injuries sustained. The good news is that I should be able to make a complete recovery and do just fine; however, it will take some time to get there. As you may know from previous bulletin articles, I was planning to ride in the 2015 Habitat 500 Bike Ride and some of you had already chosen to offer monetary support to the cause of the Clarksdale MS Habitat for Humanity. Though I can't this summer's ride, I will be happy to honor your wishes regarding donations already made. -

Church News
Learn MoreWould You Like to Ride or Would You Rather Sponsor Me?
I’d love to have you join me by also riding this summer’s Habitat 500 Bike Ride, July 12 to 18, but just in case these dates won’t work on your calendar, you are most welcome to sponsor me as I venture forth on my 13th Habitat 500 Bike Ride – 500 hilly miles from Owatonna to Winona and then back.
All donations I receive will go to the Clarksdale MS Habitat where my religious community, Congregation of St. Joseph and many of our Associates, have worked with Habitat for the past 24 years, bringing transformation, hope, and the dignity that comes with home ownership to this rural and economically disadvantaged small Southern town. Clarksdale, located in the heart of the Mississippi Delta, is known for 2 things – it’s the birthplace of the Blues, and it’s just about the poorest region of the US.
I will be most grateful for your prayer support as I ride, and if you wish to make a donation, checks can be made payable to Habitat 500.

Thank you,
Sr. Sue

09/11/2014 Children’s Liturgy of the Word Begins!
Church News
Learn MoreIt’s time for Children’s Liturgy of the Word to begin a brand new year on Sunday, September 28th, during the 8:45 and 10:30 Masses.
So what is Children’s Liturgy of the Word? It might help to start with what it’s not:
A free baby sitting service? - no
A way to give kids an entertaining break from Mass? - no
A classroom activity? - noWhen our young children leave the Gathered Assembly they go to a special room where they do on their level the same thing that the rest of us who remain in the main part of Church are doing. They experience the Word of God proclaimed to them in a way that is meaningful to children. Just as we have a homily – Breaking Open the Word – given by a priest of deacon, they have a presider who Breaks Open the Word for them in a way that they can understand as children. God is present and speaks to them through Scripture, with a translation appropriate for children. The presider leads them in a sharing that brings home the meaning of the Gospel to their young lives. Our Children’s Liturgy of the Word serves the needs of children from kindergarten through grade 3. Would you like to join our team of presiders? Contact Terry Heer at 612/702-1552 or theer@annunciationmsp.org.

Glass & plastic bottles, aluminum, and other plastic containers and paper are recyclable. (Think of your Single-Stream Recycling at home) and 3) TRASH? Candy wrappers, chip bags and plastic bags are for the trash. Enjoy SeptemberFest, but please be thoughtful at the waste containers! Peace & Justice Committee
