Calling all Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion (EMHC)

Apr 12th, 2017

Are you currently bringing Holy Communion to the homebound?

We are trying to assess the current pastoral care being provided to our community in order to ensure all our homebound parishioners are having their needs meet. If you are currently bringing Holy Communion to the homebound, will you please contact Ashleigh Varley at 612.824.9993 ext. 256, or email:

Are you being called to serve as an EMHC? Do you have the desire to assist in the distribution of Holy Communion at Mass or to bring Holy Communion to the homebound?

If so, EMHCs must be trained and commissioned every three years. If you need to renew your training or if you desire to be trained for the first time, you are invited to attend one of two spring trainings in the Community Room of the church:

Sunday, April 30 from 1:30 to 3:00pm OR Wednesday, May 3 from 7:00pm to 8:30pm.

The Catholic Church’s requirements to serve as an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion are as follows:

  • Be a practicing Catholic (i.e. attends weekly Sunday Mass) & fully initiated (i.e. baptized and confirmed in the Catholic Church).
  • Be at least 16 years of age.
  • If married, your marriage is recognized by the Church.
  • Have a deep and obvious love for the Blessed Sacrament, and should be known in one’s community as someone who is committed to the Church’s understanding of the Real Presence.

If you are interested in serving the community in this way and want to attend a training, please contact Ashleigh Varley, 612.824.9993 ext. 256, or email:
