12/29/2018 Immigration Sunday Event, January 6
The Annunciation/OLP Peace & Justice Committee and OLP's Global Solidarity Committee invite you to attend an event that will focus on the issue of immigrants and refugees.
It will be held on Immigration Sunday, January 6 at 12:15 pm in the Whalen Room at OLP.
The format will be a casual roundtable dialogue featuring immigrants (or those intimately familiar with current immigration issues) telling their stories and taking questions from those attending. There will also be potluck treats from the various cultures represented. Please join us as we explore this issue in light of Catholic Social Teaching. 12/13/2018 IB in Action: Language Learners
On December 12, our community combined our exploration and use of an additional language (Spanish) with honoring our Holy Mother on the most special feast of Our Lady of Guadelupe in our first all school mass in Spanish. “Our Lady of Guadalupe is a powerful symbol of Hispanic/Latinx identityand faith. Her image is associated with everything from motherhood to feminism to social justice.”
Our gratitude to Sra. Lovera, Sr. Saluri, Sra. Paul, Sr. Haecherl, Fr. Park and Fr. Michael Daly and students for preparing and leading us in the mass.
All students in the International Baccalaureate® (IB) Programme have the opportunity to learn more than one language. We believe that “Language is involved in all learning and is an essential vehicle for inquiry and the construction of meaning. It provides an intellectual framework to support conceptual development and critical thinking.”
