2nd Annual “Let God Set Free” Retreat, June 8-9: Two Ways You Can Help!

May 19th, 2018

"Every human being, man, woman, boy and girl, is made in God’s image.  Therefore, we declare on each and every one of our creeds that modern slavery, in terms of human trafficking, forced labor and prostitution, and organ trafficking, is a crime against humanity.”  Pope Francis  Jan. 2015

2ndAnnual “Let God Set Free”Retreat, June 8-9: 2 Ways You Can Help!

In June of 2017, we held our 1st Annual “Let God Set Free” Retreat for those who staff the organization called Breaking Free, which does outreach and provides services to victims of sex trafficking. At that time many Annunciation parishioners wrote care and support notes to those who came to this retreat. The retreatants were amazed that people whom they had never met would write to them by name and tell of their prayer and personal sacrifice for them during their retreat. One year later they still display the notes they received in their work cubicles.

We will conduct our 2nd Annual “Let God Set Free” Retreat June 8-9, at the Carondelet Center in St. Paul. Our planning committee, made up of the Carondelet Peace and Justice Center, members of the Congregation of St. Joseph, and several volunteers, invites you to contribute personal notes for these women to receive during the Friday evening prayer time of their retreat. A list of their first names is provided below.

All are invited to an Hour of Prayer to End All Forms of Human Trafficking, on Friday evening, from 7 to 8pm in our church. During this time we will pray for the 18 women making the“Let God Set Free”Retreat in St. Paul. A significant number of these women are themselves survivors of sex trafficking who now dedicate themselves to helping others caught in the same plight. Our hour of prayer will coincide with a special time of prayer and reflection planned for our retreatants.

Personal notes can be written to the following and delivered to Sr. Sue in hard copy or email by June 7th.
