Dear Senior High Parents,
You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp
and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the
house. In the same way, let your light shine before men and women, that they may see your good
deeds and praise your Father in Heaven. - Matthew 4:18
I have been a witness to this scripture passage every May for the last twenty years. Senior High
youth are experiencing a lot of change in their lives. Different schools, new friends, expanded entertainment
options and challenging social situations. While all this change is going on Annunciation
Youth Ministries goal during the summer is to provide another safe and stable place for your son
or daughter to explore their interests, deepen their faith and maintain positive relationships.
“Summer Hoopla 2007” is also about relationship building with a foundation of good deeds, respect,
integrity and acceptance. These good deeds are acts of service, the compassion and kindness
we show to others, the encouragement we give to others and the support we share with others. In
Senior High Youth group we will also do our share of silly games, visiting water parks and enjoying
movies on the lawn.
Every one of us has been given gifts and talents from God, our challenge is to share them and be a
light to the community. To provide hope and encouragement to those struggling, to help the darkness
disappear. By shining for Christ and letting his life and love radiate through our lives we point
others to the right path.
As you continue to read the events planned on the following pages, you will find that we have
planned an exciting, joy filled, positive, challenging, awesome, unbelievable summer and I look
forward to sharing it with your child.
Peace in Christ,
Jimmy Dunn
Director of Youth Ministry
