Mission Haiti

Mission Haiti board members to travel to Haiti

Jimmy Dunn, president of Mission Haiti Inc, and fellow board member, Jack Pelner will be leaving for Haiti March 11th-14th. Until very recently commercial flights into Haiti had been canceled. Jimmy and Jack will spend their time in Leogane, Haiti where our sister school and home for abandoned women are located. They will be working closely with the sisters who run our projects, The Companions of Jesus, assessing earthquake damage, developing a strategy for building repairs as well as meeting the most urgent needs of the people in the local community. Additionally, they plan to connect with other helping agencies in Leogane to consider possible “collective” efforts with those now established and on location in the area.

Recently Mission Haiti received a report from the architect of their complex saying while the buildings/grounds have suffered some damage, they are optimistic repairs can safely be made. The city of Leogane, located just a few short miles from the earthquake's epicenter has suffered a 90% loss of all buildings. We feel very blessed our complex is still intact and may be able to serve as a possible community outreach location in an area so devastated. Please keep Jimmy and Jack in your prayers, that their trip will be safe, productive, and serve as an important first step in the rebuilding of Haiti.

A Prayer for the People of Haiti

Out of the depths we cry to You, O God.

We cry to You for our Haitian brothers and sisters.

We thank you for upholding them in their suffering.

Give them continuing strength and comfort.

Give us love and courage to stand with them

and work with them

as they struggle for justice and freedom.

Keep us committed to the truth and empower us

with Your Spirit of love:

A love that always sees possibilities

for peace founded on justice;

A love that seeks justice,

and a love that  reaches out to all peoples

as Jesus taught us.

We trust in Your continuing mercy as we bring to You

our own desire to be in active solidarity

with our Haitian brothers and sisters.

O Lespri Sen desann sou nou; nou gen yon misyon

Pou Ayiti.

O Holy Spirit descend on us; we have a mission for Haiti.

AMEN

My Dear Annunciation Friends,

Thank you so much for all your prayers for healing for me. I appreciate all of them so much! The surgery was a success! Thank God! I have returned to ministry part time and working myself up to full time. Please continue to keep me in your prayers. I am so grateful for all of your care and cards for me! I will continue to keep you in my prayers, asking God to bless you.                     Sister Deanna Donahue, SSND
