Habitat for Humanity: July 26th – August 6th: This summer Annunciation is partnering with St. Peter’s in Richfield and Our Lady of Peace, along with five other local churches to form Nokomis Builds as our annual Habitat for Humanity building project. We are really looking forward to working side-by-side with members of these faith communities plus the Habitat recipient family at our Brooklyn Park site. Would you like to volunteer for a day or even more than a day? No particular skill is needed before hand as long as you are willing to pitch in and follow directions. We will also need volunteers to prepare lunches for our work crews. Questions? Contact Bill Prince at 612-861-4609 or

Ice Cream Social follows Masses, Sunday, August 1st. Served by Twelve Apostles Plus.

Intergenerational Retreat at Villa Maria Retreat Center—your choice of tent camping, bunk-house camping or private room—the weekend of August 13th-15th. Our topic of discussion will be on prayer: Being aware of God’s presence, talking with God, Jesus is our prayer, and praying through my wants for my needs and for what I desire. There will be children’s activities, sessions and family time. The indoor pool is always a delight.

Thank You Teachers

Heavenly Father, on this day, we pray for teachers from all walks of life. For those who work in the classroom, may they be models of your compassion and discipline. For those who train people in professions, may others see you in their daily lives and hard work. And we pray for parents, best and wisest of all mentors that their children may learn holiness from their example. Whether their lessons are about math, work or life, give all teachers the grace to show your patience, your virtue, and your joy to those near them. Give all teachers love for your truth, life and Church. Amen

Congratulations to the Graduates of our Parish; Church, School and Community . . . around the corner and throughout the world.

Dear God, those whom you called to do great things for you were often tested first. You did so, not to frustrate them, but to bring out what you saw as the best in them. Joseph was raised from slavery to royalty, and you gave him grace to forgive when he’d been wronged. Solomon was raised from prince to king, and you granted him wisdom to govern his people. Jeremiah was raised from youth to prophet, and you gave him courage to proclaim your truth. Today begins a new chapter in the lives of these graduates. Give them the wisdom to make wise decisions, just as you gave your servants guidance in ages past. Amen.

Prayer for Summer

Dear God, you made the four seasons. Each summer arrives a part of your perfect pattern and will, yet is unique unto itself. This summer, help me to see not only the enjoyment of vacations, but the joy of your will. Help me to feel not only the pleasure of a warm sun, but the contentment of a life guided by you. Help me to know, not only the satisfaction of a project completed, but the fulfillment of a heart filled by you. Help me to see you in all things, Lord, in all the seasons of life you give us. Amen

Mission Haiti

Haiti Mission Trip: You have heard a lot about Haiti since the devastating quake last January. Now we would like to offer you an opportunity to experience 1st hand how the quake relief efforts are proceeding by joining us on our next mission trip, January 24th-31st. You will meet the children, staff and sisters at our sister school, Ecole Notre Dame L’Annonciation, and also the ladies who live at the home in the Village of Jesus in Leogane. You will be immersed into the lives and culture of beautiful people who are living in hope & faith of a better tomorrow. You may wish to stay an additional week (January 31st- February 7th) to work at the Missionaries of Charity Nutrition/Wellness center where you will serve the sick and the hungry, the deprived and the dying and enter more deeply into the lives of the poorest of poor. We will be accepting reservations on a “first come, first serve” basis for parishioners from now until September 1, 2010. After September 1st, the trip will be opened to others outside the parish who desire to journey with us. If you are interested please contact Connie Pelner at 612-824-4438 or by email: cpelner@bitstream.net

A Prayer for the People of Haiti

Out of the depths we cry to You, O God.

We cry to You for our Haitian brothers and sisters.

We thank you for upholding them in their suffering.

Give them continuing strength and comfort.

Give us love and courage to stand with them

and work with them

as they struggle for justice and freedom.

Keep us committed to the truth and empower us

with Your Spirit of love:

A love that always sees possibilities

for peace founded on justice;

A love that seeks justice,

and a love that  reaches out to all peoples

as Jesus taught us.

We trust in Your continuing mercy as we bring to You

our own desire to be in active solidarity

with our Haitian brothers and sisters.

O Lespri Sen desann sou nou; nou gen yon misyon

Pou Ayiti.

O Holy Spirit descend on us; we have a mission for Haiti.

AMEN
